This beautiful set of hanging scrolls features two exquisite depictions of Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy, by the artists Hōjin and Chōshi. These scrolls reflect the deep spiritual significance and serene beauty associated with Kannon in Japanese culture.

Sei Kannon by Kunihito 邦人:
This scroll depicts Sei Kannon, or the Sacred Kannon, sitting gracefully on a rocky outcrop, surrounded by lush greenery and illuminated by the gentle glow of a full moon. Kunihito’s delicate brushstrokes and subtle use of color create a serene atmosphere that captures the divine and compassionate presence of Kannon. The moonlight adds a mystical quality, enhancing the sense of tranquility and contemplation.

Jiden Kannon by Kiyoshi 澄志:
The second scroll features Jibo Kannon, rendered in delicate pastels with an ethereal presence. Kannon is depicted standing elegantly on a lotus flower, holding a vase symbolizing purity and compassion.
