The swan, together with the egg, was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.

Origianlly mounted on a frame made of fully cast profiled (X-frame) aluminium. This version of the Egg chair is from the first production and has no engraving at the bottom of the socket, but comes with the manufacturer's label on the stem - see pictures. This chair therefore is rare and has collector potential due to the early production.

This version has the original proportions with thinner ears and armrests than those produced in recent times. It comes with swivel and without tilt function.

Note that this chair is upholstered in the leather type aniline:

The aniline leather is made from the most advanced raw hides and has a natural surface where the original markings add an authentic look with lots of character. Each skin is unique and completely unique. Over time, a patina will develop in the leather, which will give the chair personality. Aniline leather is the term for leather that has been tanned and dyed without a top finish. The surface is completely natural and the pores are open. This makes the leather 100% breathable and provides the best sitting comfort.


After the end of the auction, it will be safe and carefully packed on a pallet with sides (120cmx80cmx130cm) and shipped by a professional furniture courier. Shipping will take place within one week after the end of auction
