A XIX century Italian School - After Guido Reni (1575-1642) - The Madonna with resting Child after the Old Master

19th Century Italian School After Guido Reni (1575-1642) Title: Madonna with resting Child Period 1800-1850 Medium: Oil on canvas Provenance: From. Leading UK art dealership and private UK collection Overall size with the frame is 109 cm x 87 cm x 6 cm and the painting itself 93 cm x 71 cm A very large and beautifully composed 19th century Italian School oil on canvas depiction of The Madonna with the resting baby Jesus after the original by Guido Reini (1575-1642) . Guido Reni was an early Italian Baroque painter noted for the classical idealism of his renderings of mythological and religious subjects. The painting offered had lovely tonality and retains strong colours. In the painting Madonna in red robe, blue cloak and beige headdress. In front of her, lying on a white cloth which she holds upwards at the edge with two fingers of her outstretched hand, is the boy Jesus. The Madonna looks at the child with slightly tilted head lovingly at the naked sleeping Jesus while her left hand touches his golden-brown hair tenderly. The painting is finely composed and in ready to hang condition. Condition report. In excellent lined condition, the painting appears to have been professionally restored most likely within the last 50 years and is lined . There is fine Craquelure commensurate with its antiquity. The paint surface is stable and the lined canvas in good tension. Please note: The frame that is included in the pictures above has been added to the artwork by a third party/the seller, as such it’s not an integral part of the object. The frame is being provided to you at no additional costs so that when your artwork arrives at your house you can immediately display it on your wall. As such any damages to the frame itself, that do not affect the integrity of the artwork, cannot be accepted as a valid reason to open a claim or request a cancellation. We would also point out that whilst we insure all paintings before shipping that we have no control over shipping once we have sent the painting . The successful bidder will be responsible for paying any import duties and any associated VAT in the country of destination . Please refer to the auction terms regarding this before bidding.
