Joan Rivers biography : American comedian and talk show host Joan Rivers (1933–2014) was a pioneer among women in entertainment, becoming the first woman to host a late-night talk show. Brash and abrasive, Rivers adapted the outrageous comedic style of her main inspiration, comedian Lenny Bruce, into material that embarrassed audiences and nearly always made them laugh throughout her long career.
