Bolgheri Sassicaia DOP has an intense ruby red or garnet color; on the nose it is characterized by aromas of red fruits, then sweet spices, undergrowth, tobacco, leather, chocolate; on the palate it is silky, a fine and elegant tannin is perceived, with a long and complex persistence and the acidity is of great respect. Bolgheri Sassicaia PDO cannot be released for consumption unless it has been subjected to an aging period of at least two years starting from January 1st of the year following the year in which the grapes were produced, of which at least 18 months in French oak barrels with a capacity not exceeding 225 litres. In the designation and presentation of Bolgheri Sassicaia DOP wines, the indication of the production year of the grapes is mandatory.
