Biography
Kondo Shosen(1865-1951)
He was born in Higo, Kumamoto Prefecture, in 1865, the first year of Keio University.
His name was Seigo. He studied painting under Sessho Sugitani.
In 1898, he was called to Tokyo again by the Hosokawa family.
Thereafter, while working for the Hosokawa family, he exhibited mainly at the Japan Art Association and the Nihonga-kai (Society for Japanese Painting).
He excelled in animal paintings. He died in 1951 at the age of 85.
