奥原晴湖 Okuhara Seiko (1837-1913) A female nanga artist of the Meiji era. At first, she studied painting under 牧田水石 Hirata Suiseki (1796-1869), later studied Ming and Qing painting in Edo, and became a private admirer of Zheng Banqiao (Zheng Xie). She painted with a manly and vigorous style, and her popularity was split in two with 安田老山 Yasuda Rozan (1830-1883) at the time of the popularity of literati painting in the early Meiji period. She was a woman of many anecdotes about her masculine appearance and personality, including her decision to cut her hair, which was unusual at the time. with signature 'Seiko' 晴湖 and lower seal 'Guko' 虞古 滝和亭 Taki Katei (1830-1901) Nanga artist. Born in Edo. Studied under Sato Suigai, who lived nearby, and under Araki Kankai, Katagiri Toin, Ooka Unpo and Sakamoto Konen.
