The set includes a three-drawer dressing stand featuring the Tokugawa Aoi crest on each drawer, the sides (two crests), and the tray surface, a matching small container adorned with the same crest, and six lacquered cosmetic brushes. The dressing stand features a flat tray at the top, a storage compartment below it, and three drawers fitted with copper handles, which display a natural patina. The small container has a black lacquered exterior with the Tokugawa crest painted on the lid and side, while the interior is finished in vermilion and the base in nashiji. The cosmetic brushes include a thick double-sided brush with the Tokugawa crest, three fine double-sided brushes with Rokujō Fuji crest, and two decorated with pine and bamboo in maki-e. The Tokugawa Aoi crest symbolizes the authority of the Tokugawa family and was exclusively used by the Tokugawa clan and their close relatives during the Edo period. After Tokugawa Yoshimune became shogun in 1723, unauthorized use or improper handling of the Aoi crest was strictly prohibited and severely punished. Despite its age, the set remains in relatively good condition, with some signs of wear that reflect its historical use. Minor chipping and cracks are visible on the tray's lacquer, and there is slight wear and discoloration on the maki-e designs. Small marks are present on the lower part of the stand, and the fittings exhibit natural patina. Please refer to the photos for a detailed assessment of the condition. Overall Dimensions: approx.
