The AERIAL VIEWS LONDON PHOTO SERIES:
"Photographer Bernhard Lang shared aerial views of famous squares and landmarks throughout London, England. By presenting the metropolis from the sky, Lang offers a more dynamic look at the capital city’s unique geometric patterns and iconic architecture.
Lang produced the Aerial Views: London series from inside a helicopter during a trip to the United Kingdom in July 2019. Locations including Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, and Trafalgar Square were chosen because they are “stored in our visual memory,” Lang tells Colossal. For the photographer, the unusual perspective of familiar sites reveals the atmosphere and charisma of the city in ways that can’t be seen from the ground. The flyover views of the city make it appear more like a detailed model of itself, complete with cars, double-deckers, boats, and tiny people frozen in places like figurines."
Magazine Colossal, Andrew Lasane (USA, 10/2019)

THE ARTIST:
Since 2010, Bernhard Lang is capturing the earth's surface in his photo series "Aerial Views".
To take these pictures from the heavens, Lang takes off in helicopters and small aircrafts.
Lang's work has been published in Times Magazin, The Washington Post, The Guardian, CNN, Wired, National Geographic Magazin, Corriere della Sera, Zeit Magazin, art magazine, mare, FAZ, Stern, Spiegel, SZ, ... and and has produced artistic content for Apple, Aston Martin, Akris, Getty Images Creative, Sundek, Deutsche Welle TV Channel, …
He's aiming to find interesting looking patterns and structures on the surface of our planet. He also takes particular interest in capturing images, that show the impact of human’s activities on the nature and environment.
Lang’s images free us from the bonds of gravity and allow us to take a more detached look at the world and our effect on it — both good and bad. It is this duality that lang is most interested in investigating through his work, the strange balance between beauty and destruction, and the ongoing struggle for symbiosis between human kind and the earth we inhabit.
Lang’s work has been shown in several exhibitions worldwide, and his exclusively limited, museum quality Fine Art Prints are held in corporate and private collections.
