The Great Year 2005 of Bollinger Champagnes

The Great Year 2005 from Bollinger is an intense, rich champagne.

This cuvée is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir (from the terroirs of Aÿ and Verzenay) and 30% Chardonnay (mainly from the terroirs of Avize, Chouilly and Mesnil-sur-Oger), 95% Grands Crus and 5% Premier Cru.

One of the peculiarities of the cuvée La Grande Année is that its fermentation is carried out entirely in barrels, which gives it this power and aromas so characteristic.

The year 2005 was generous and easy, offering grapes of a beautiful maturity. It is this perfect balance between acidity and sweetness that has led Bollinger to develop a Grande Année from this 2005 vintage.

The dosage of this champagne is moderate, in the order of 6 grams per litre.

The Great Year 2005 Bollinger has a beautiful deep gold dress, which reflects the
Maturity of this champagne.
On the nose, it is a cuvée that begins with notes of honey, gingerbread and cinnamon before revealing lighter aromas of dried fruits and dried flowers.

On the palate, La Grande Année 2005 has a round and ample attack, which then gives way to aromas of pastry, candied orange and ripe fruit complemented by a discreet touch of undergrowth and vanilla.

The finish is focused on freshness and finesse. It stretches for long seconds on the palate.
