Maceo Casadei (Forlì, 1899 - 1992) was an Italian painter, considered "among the main continuers of the nineteenth-century figurative tradition in the Romagna area.

Biography

Artist from the school of Forlì, he devoted himself to painting at the painter Giovanni Marchini[2], in Forlì. When the family, for work reasons, moves to France, they can attend the Free Nude Academy of Lyon. Here he has relations with another artist from Forlì, Pietro Angelini, of whom he becomes a collaborator.

During the First World War, he was enlisted and sent to the front (he was one of the "99" Guys). In 1917, he painted the work entitled Retirata di Caporetto, today in the collections of the Cassa dei Risparmi of Forlì and Romagna.

In 1937, the Ministry of National Education bought some of his works, which were then exhibited at the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome [without source].

During the Second World War he worked as an envoy to the front (1941-1943), making thousands of photographs and over four hundred drawings and paintings, called War Impressions: in 1942, a selection of these works was exhibited at the Il Milione Gallery in Milan.
