Each screen is adorned with beautiful calligraphy, meticulously executed on paper and framed with a scattering of gold leaf, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication. The calligraphy flows gracefully across the panels, making these screens not only functional pieces but also works of art that capture the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetics. Rai Itsuan (頼聿庵) was the eldest son of Rai Sanyo (頼山陽). The details of this work are unknown. Despite their age, these screens retain much of their original beauty. There are signs of wear, including scratches, stains, tears, creases, and small holes, consistent with their age. The metal fittings and the back of the panels show some discoloration, and there is some peeling of the paper. These imperfections, however, do not detract from the overall charm and historical significance of the pieces. Please refer to the photos for a detailed view of their current condition.
