This is a magnificent marriage bed linen. It is in absolute "prime condition" and my belief is that it was only used for the "honeymoon" period. I obtained it from a French Bourgeoisie family. The owners who sold it to me amongst other trousseaux bed linen which will shortly be shown told me that it has been in a family chest for long periods. Instead the lady told me fairly plain bed linen with family initials was used as she found it too precious to deck the children's beds. The initials M.T. at 19cm long are embroidered in high relief and linked with ribbons and bow which indicates eternal love. The edges are scalloped and embroidered over the open thread work with sprays of flowers which continues on to the main body . ( I have never seen this before and so cleverly executed ) The corners have magnificent ribbons and bow with scatterings of open flora. The sides of the bed linen return with the same elaborate design at 45cm. Finally I noted that the edges have single and double scallops. We have taken many photos for you to enjoy. It is a very rare piece which again needs to be loved and cherished.
