Asia Occidental Piedra dura naranja Collar de cuentas (Sin Precio de Reserva)

A Western Asiatic restrung necklace composed of hardstone beads in varying shades of orange. The majority of the necklace is made of mostly uniform disc-shaped beads. Towards the centre, the beads become larger and tubular in shape. A large cone-shaped bead, possibly agate, and a small rounded bead at the point acts as a pendant. Please note this necklace is unclasped and threaded on string. Minor wear to some of the beads, such as cracks and scratches. Jewellery is thought to be one of the oldest forms of art within history, with the presence of rings, bangles and necklaces in almost all ancient societies. The Western Asiatic region is home to many interesting and unique jewellery patterns, with hardstone being the common material of choice for ancient citizens to decorate themselves with. The sophisticated nature of the society can be seen through their jewellery making skills with elaborate patterns and carvings being common finds. Measurements: Circa 34.7cm (half length), 21.5cm (beaded section) Provenance: Ex private UK collection, acquired 1990s.
