A nice set of 9 blue and white dishes from the early to mid Qing dynasty. This set is called a Mukozuke in Japan and it is intended for Kaiseki: a longer Tea ceremony which includes food served from small dishes.
The dishes are decorated with with three different designs: The smallest two dishes from the 19th century are decorated with lotus flowers and scrolling vines and marked with a shopmark. Then 5 dishes Resist-decorated on the powder-blue grounds flower shaped medallion of three flowers, possibly Orchid. the backside only with a shopmark within double ring. These dishes stem from the 17th century, transitional period to early Qing dynasty. The last set of two sacrificial blue dishes are decorated with a chrysanthemum flower in the center and scrolling vines. The backside also blue ground and marked with Jiaqing mark and period.
The Mukozuke set comes with a old Japanese Tomobako box and white cotton wrappings.
Dimensions: W9 x 3H cm (approx.)
Condition: Overall in good condition. Some dishes have chips, hairlines and baking flaws. Please see pictures for the details. The Tomobako storage box is refurbished and has some new elements added.
