Street scene with old Vienna figures before famous Karlskirche ( in German for St. Charles´s Church in Vienna) created ca. 1900 in watercolour by famous austrian cityscape artist Alexander Josef Kostka (1879-Vienna-1961).
The Karlskirche is a church situated on the south side of Karlsplatz, Vienna, which is located on the edge of the 1st district, 200 metres outside the Ringstraße. It is one of the most outstanding baroque church structures north of the Alps and boasts the spectacular feature of a dome in the form of an elongated ellipsoid. The church is cared for by a religious order and also has long been the parish curch as well as the seat of the Catholic student ministry of the Vienna University of Technology.
The author of watercolour A.J.Kostka - good listed lanscape and cityscape painter, pupil by Art School Stehblow and prof. R.von Larisch.His Vienna views are very popular by collectors in Europe.
