LOT DESCRIPTION: Romano-Egyptian cartonnage sandal From the underside of a cartonnage "boot" from a cartonnage assemblage of a Romano-Egyptian mummy that would have consisted of a helmet mask, broad collar necklace, mummy board with rectangular panels depicting images of the funerary gods, separated by bands of hieroglyphs, and a boot covering the feet. These boots are decorated underneath either with images of the bare feet, sandals decorated with images of a Nubian and a Syrian, the traditional enemies of Pharaonic Egypt, or, as in the case, geometric designs. Framed under glass with tabletop stand or option for wall hanging. Frame size: 20 x 16cm Visible part: 17 x 12cm CONDITION: Fair - fragile cartonnage with visible cracks. It is recommended not to remove cartonnage from current frame to prevent further damage.
