This is rare postmodern, sculptural vase by female Austrian designer Heide Warlamis from the 1980s. Numbered in an edition of 500 pieces. In line with the Memphis Milano design phenomenon of the time, this vintage vase was rather revolutionary – turning heads and winning awards at the same time. The tall vase (30cm juxtaposing geometric shapes in the most eye-catching way, is more an objet d’art than a vase for your regular flower bouquet. But don’t worry: it’s beautifully glazed, functional and easy to clean… The geometric black and white decor was the artist’s postmodern approach to abstract patterns by Josef Hoffmann and the “Wiener Werkstätte” from the early 1900s, famous for their linear and uncluttered style. Hence the name “Vienna Collection” that Warlamis produced in her own factory. The porcelain is of finest quality and beautifully thin-walled. Heide Warlamis designs are considered highly influenced by memphis designers such as Ettore Sottsass, Enzo Mari, Aldo Londi, Zanini, Peter Shire, Matteo Thun, Michele De Lucchi and Nathalie Du Pasquier.
