This is a lovely Lower Paleolithic Acheulian Quartzite Handaxe from Mauruitania, Western Sahara, measuring 9.3cm in length. The artifact is a lovely deep red colour and has a nice patina from its many years in the desert. Made by Homo erectus from 1000,000 - 500,000 years ago, this Lower Paleolithic Acheulean handaxe is in excellent condition with no modern damage. Length: 9.3cm Width: 6cm This piece is part of a large collection of stone-age objects inherited by myself from a close relative, an avid antiquities enthusiast, who passed away in the late 1990's. The collection was formed primarily in the 70's and 80's from many sources on the European art market. It has formed a part of my personal collection since 1998.
