A fascinating black stone eagle bead talisman from the ancient Persian, Bactrian culture. The eagle is the symbol of elevation and of spirit associated with the supreme sky-god.
Early 1st Millennium BC.
In good condition. It has been cleaned partly, but the nice antique patina is preserved. Original, ancient, hand cutting, carving and grinding.Traces of use and age on its surface.
Purchased 1983/Budapest by Dr. Zelnik from the collection of a former ambassador in Pakistan, H.E.B.I.
