Lamborghini's 5 most expensive cars

Written by Laura | 22nd April 2020

Long considered synonymous with style, innovation and excellence, Lamborghini has regularly pushed the boundaries of what it means to be a luxurious car brand. It was founded in 1963, with the initial goal of creating a line of grand touring cars that were similar to racing cars in their style and performance. But the futuristic appearance of the cars quickly set them apart and made them beloved by collectors and car enthusiasts worldwide. From the Lamborghini Aventador to the Veneno Roadster, Lamborghini has since produced some of the highest priced cars in the world. Here are the most expensive and extravgant among them.

Aventador J

After launching a car named the Aventador, this limited edition one-piece Aventador J was made to be showcased at the Geneva Motor show in 2012. The two-seater concept car has no roof and no windows, but it does have an impressive 6.5-litre V12 engine. The car, with its curvy design, had already sold for €2 million before it was even displayed.

Sesto Elemento Concept

This car was first shown at the Paris Auto Show back in 2001. Due to the fact that the car used carbon fibre technology, it was named  'sixth element' (when translated from Italian) – referring to carbon's atomic number in the periodic table. The 6-speed transmission car has a powerful engine and can reach up to 298 kilometres per hour. The design is impressive too; all black with red details and smooth edges. After introducing the concept car, valued at €2.1 million, 20 new units were produced in 2011.

Egoista Concept

This car was named 'Egoista', meaning 'selfish' in Italian, because of its unique one-seat cockpit, inspired by the design of the Apache helicopter. The lighting resembles that of a modern airplane, with markers and indicators on every side, while the body of the car has aerodynamic panels added to it that can move for optimal downforce. Getting in the car is a slightly trickier affair as the steering wheel needs to be removed, which is maybe why the Egoista only remained a concept car. Nevertheless, it's an extremely impressive machine.

Veneno

The 'Veneno', meaning 'venom' in Spanish, resembles a dangerous-looking beast and a beautiful futuristic car at the same time. Only three cars were made in this series, each with a price tag of €3 million. Perhaps what’s most impressive is the car’s speed stats: it's equipped with a 6.5-litre engine with 740HP and it can go from 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds. Equipped with aerodynamics and very light-weight, many a Lamborghini fan would pick the Veneno as their poison any day.

Veneno Roadster

The Veneno Roadster is the most expensive Lamborghini in the world, valued at €3.3 million. The model was released for the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini in 2014, with only nine units produced. The Veneno Roadster is a convertible car that can reach a top speed of 355kph, with its 6.5-litre engine and 750HP. It’s innovative too; rather than increasing the power of its engine, Lamborghini chose to improve its aerodynamics and it uses carbon fibre to reduce its the weight.
