Statua in terracotta di pregevole fattura raffigurante Perseo in riposo prima dell'impresa di uccisione della gorgone Medusa. Uno dei protagonisti più frequenti nelle leggende e nei racconti del mito è la figura del giovane eroe che per superare una prova di coraggio – spesso simbolo del passaggio dalla gioventù alla maturità – deve uccidere un essere mostruoso.
La rappresentazione iconografica di Perseo, simbolo della leggerezza, contrapposto a Medusa, simbolo della rigidità e dell'immobilità, lo mostra con il dono di Mercurio, la lancia con cui uccide Medusa e un dono di Minerva, lo scudo di bronzo, ovvero, lo specchio in cui guarda rimanendone immune il riflesso della gorgone, utilizzando in perfetto connubio forza ed astuzia, come da figura antologica dell'eroe Greco.
La posa plastica dell'eroe che sembra indicare se stesso, come in risposta alla necessitá, dona alla stessa una carica allegorica.
