Exceptionnelle Sculpture Murale en Bois – Shiva Nataraja – Inde du Sud – Fin XXe siècle Magnifique et imposante sculpture murale ancienne en bois massif sculpté à la main, représentant Shiva Nataraja, le dieu hindou dans sa forme de “Seigneur de la danse cosmique”. Cette pièce est une œuvre d’art rituelle traditionnelle du sud de l’Inde, probablement datée de la fin XXe siècle (vers 1880–1920), selon le style, la patine et la technique de sculpture. Cette représentation de Shiva est particulièrement remarquable par : • La finesse de la sculpture : chaque main, visage, parure et mouvement est exécuté avec une maîtrise impressionnante du détail. • Le symbolisme riche : Shiva, au centre de la composition, effectue la danse cosmique (Tandava), entouré de ses multiples bras tenant divers attributs divins. Exceptional Wooden Wall Sculpture – Shiva Nataraja – South India – Late 20th century

Magnificent and imposing ancient wall sculpture made of hand-carved solid wood, representing Shiva Nataraja, the Hindu god in his form of "Lord of the cosmic dance." This piece is a traditional ritual artwork from southern India, probably dated to the late 20th century (around 1880–1920), according to the style, patina, and sculpting technique.

This representation of Shiva is particularly remarkable for:
The finesse of the sculpture: each hand, face, embellishment, and movement is executed with an impressive mastery of detail.
The rich symbolism: Shiva, at the center of the composition, performs the cosmic dance (Tandava), surrounded by his multiple arms holding various divine attributes. Beneath his foot, he crushes a demon, symbol of ignorance.
The secondary figures: we also observe female and serpentine mythological characters sculpted in relief, evoking deities and celestial apsaras.
The pediment: decorated with a makara, a protective mythological creature, stylized in wood and surrounding the scene with its cosmic breath.
