Dos orné au fer spécial du chiffre de Maxime Du Camp sorte de signature visuelle, représentant son appartenance à des bibliophiles de prestige. Enrichi de son ex libris collé au premier plat intérieur, orné de ses initiales et de deux plumes croisées. Edition originale agrémentée de charmants ornements typographiques (bandeaux, lettrines et culs de lampe). Très discrètes rousseurs en fin d'ouvrage, reliure en parfait état. Maxime Du Camp (1822-1894) était un écrivain, journaliste, et photographe français, également connu pour être un bibliophile passionné. Célèbre pour sa relation étroite avec l’écrivain Gustave Flaubert, avec qui il a partagé une amitié profonde et une collaboration intellectuelle, notamment lors de leurs voyages en Orient. Figure importante du cercle littéraire du XIXe siècle en France. Marie-Sidonia de Lenoncourt, fut considérée comme l’une des plus belles femmes d’Europe. Elle est née en 1650, au château édifié par son grand-père, à Marolles-les-Bailly. Elle décéda en 1685, à 35 ans, au terme d’une vie tragique, illustrant le sort d’une femme prise dans les intrigues de la cour et dans la machine judiciaire de l’époque. Pleasant copy preserved in a fine half-brown morocco binding. Spine decorated with a special die of Maxime Du Camp's cipher, a sort of visual signature, representing his belonging to prestigious bibliophiles. Enriched with his ex libris glued to the first inner cover, adorned with his initials and two crossed feathers.

Original edition enhanced with charming typographic ornaments (headbands, initials, and tailpieces). Very discreet foxing at the end of the book, binding in perfect condition.

Maxime Du Camp (1822-1894) was a French writer, journalist, and photographer, also known for being a passionate bibliophile. Famous for his close relationship with the writer Gustave Flaubert, with whom he shared a profound friendship and intellectual collaboration, especially during their travels in the East. An important figure in the 19th-century literary circle in France.

Marie-Sidonia de Lenoncourt was considered one of the most beautiful women in Europe. She was born in 1650, at the castle built by her grandfather, in Marolles-les-Bailly.
She died in 1685, at the age of 35, at the end of a tragic life, illustrating the fate of a woman caught in the intrigues of the court and the judicial machine of the time.
