Doll's Head, 1972, light print, signed and numbered 16/30, 65 x 45 cm.

Phototype (also: phototype, collotype, albertotype) is a rarely used fine art printing process.

Székessy can, without exaggeration, be counted among the "Grandes Dames" of contemporary German photography. Beauty and sensuality are central themes in her work. This is expressed above all in her unmistakable female portraits and nudes. Székessy's special art is that the women in her pictures never appear naked, even when unclothed; they are always surrounded by an aura of untouchability. In addition, however - especially in her earlier works - photographs with an almost scenic, reportage-like character are just as much a part of her oeuvre as impressive artist portraits.
