Corgi 1:43 - Model van - Corgi Toys 441 Volkswagen Van Toblerone, Boxed - No Reserve Price

Corgi is one of the historic brands in model cars. The Corgi launched in 1956 were the first to have windows made of clear plastic. Corgi was a Mettoy brand, a company founded in 1933 by German immigrant Philipp Ullmann, originally based in Northampton and later in Swansea (Wales). The Corgi models were made of zamac, approximately 1:43 scale, and soon featured many working parts such as opening doors and hoods or suspensions. Models of vehicles known from films and television series were particularly successful. In 1964, a new range of smaller models in approximately 1:66 scale was introduced. It was initially called "Husky" and then renamed "Corgi Juniors" in 1970. In the 1970s, many models from the main range were made in 1:36 scale, but in the following decade, Corgi reverted to using 1:43 scale for cars and 1:50 for commercial vehicles, moving production to China. In 1999, Corgi acquired the Lledo brand, continuing the production of the Vanguards 1:43 range.
