A quarto volume (275x210 mm), full leather with a gilded decoration on each cover, smooth spine decorated, gilded edges (period binding). Worn and scuffed covers. Fresh interior, rare foxing.

Collection of 12 colored engravings representing twelve female figures in traditional attire chosen from all eras. Each costume is accompanied by a small descriptive text:
an outfit from ancient Egypt - an outfit from ancient Scotland - a Turkish outfit - a traditional outfit from the court of Louis XII - an outfit of a resident of Bern - a traditional outfit from Milan - an outfit from the court of Russia - an outfit of English peasantry - a Swiss outfit - an outfit from the court of Charles VII - a Persian outfit - an outfit from the Scottish Highlands
