The Moba statues, called Tchitcheri, are recognizable for their extremely simplified sculpture, always following the same pattern: a imposing spherical head, sometimes engraved with basic features, resting on a slender body and limbs. The patinas range from shiny dark brown to the lightest and rawest wood. This specimen is a Tchitcheri Bawoong, characterized by its medium size (25 to 90 centimeters in height). A Tchitcheri Bawoong represents a recent ancestor and is intended for the family altar. Its smooth honey-colored patina attests to great antiquity. Slightly inclined forward, its posture is dignified and peaceful.
