Sony ICF-7600DS
Made by Sony, Tokyo.
The small Sony ICF-7600D was launched in 1983 and was the first double superheterodyne receiver with digital PLL frequency synthesis in a pocket format, as the successor to the Sony ICF-2001. In the years before, the WRTH measured "travel-friendliness" by whether the suitcase receiver fit under an airplane seat; the small Sony fits in a coat pocket. It featured a digital frequency display, a BFO for easy SSB reception, and ten station memories.
In 1987, Sony released the ICF-7600 DS, the receiver received a new color in anthracite - dark gray, the AM/FM function and band range buttons and the EXECUTE button are in eggplant - reddish brown.
