NEU EROFFNETE MAHOMETANISCHE MOSCHEA - [La première traduction allemande fiable du Coran] - 1703

NEU EROFFNETE MAHOMETANISCHE MOSCHEA La première traduction allemande fiable du Coran Davis NERRETER. Nuremberg, Endter, 1703 Format : In-8°, 9 x 16,2 x 6 cm Nombre de pages : [8]f.-1222-[50]p. Poids : 525 g. Voir photos.

The first reliable German translation of the Quran
Davis NERRETER.

Number of pages: [8]f.-1222-[50]p.

The present original edition of the translation of the Quran by David Nerreter, constituting the second part of this work, is based on the reference edition established by Ludovico Maracci in 1696, thus replacing the previous German translation by Salomon Schweigger (1616). The latter, relying on an imperfect Italian translation from 1557, left inaccuracies that Nerreter aimed to correct. Thus, this version is considered the first fully reliable German translation of the sacred text of Islam.
All the remaining engravings, including the incomplete ones, are photographed.
Condition: Wear from use of the binding, damaged caps, dull corners, some signatures are heavily browned, 3 engravings are missing and 3 are incomplete, otherwise a fine copy.
