A beautifully illustrated page from this medium sized but damaged Koran, written in black Naskh script. The hand that illustrated the pages is extremely elegant. A Persian interlinear translation in red has been added. A classic leaf motif border surrounds the scripture, outside of which are further framing lines in gold, red and blue. The script is from Chapter 5, Al-Ma-idah (The Spread Table), v20-26 in which the Israelites are ordered, through Moses, to enter the Holy Land and put their trust in God. However many rebellious Israelites refuse to which God casts them out for 40 years to wander in the wilderness and tells Moses not to grieve them. There is an illuminated 'juz' in the margin which signs the 25th verse of the Chapter. Simple gold aya mark the individual verses.
The condition is very good, with minimal signs of devotional use.
