Vincenzo Balsamo (1935-2017) - Senza titolo
No. 94397833

I propose a beautiful and characteristic work by Vincenzo Balsamo.
This is a work from the Lyrical Abstraction cycle (1987-2017), executed in 1994 on the occasion of the personal exhibition within "Découvertes 94 - art actuel", published in the exhibition catalogue, edited by D. Davvetas, "Découvertes 94 art actuel", Port de Versailles-Nef Victor (Paris), March 1994; it is worth noting that in the same year Balsamo held a personal exhibition at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome.
The painting was made in oil on canvas measuring 79x57 cm and finely framed; it is accompanied by an authentication by the artist and included in his archive with the number 230A/BIS.
Regarding Lyrical Abstraction, I report below an extract from a critique by Giovanni Faccenda:
"[...] Thus flourished that season of Lyrical Abstraction at whose foundations remain the Futurist Balla, Klee and Kandinskij of Der Blaue Reiter, as well as a certain dreamlike Mirò, of which, in Italy and beyond, Balsamo is today the Supreme Creator.
In front of his "apparitions", subjected to the mystery of painting, it is not difficult to perceive the true value of an authentic creativity that he expresses in each of his works.
Thus, Balsamo remains not only the protagonist of that Lyrical Abstraction, of which Mathieu was the first to speak in 1947; the original tone of his expression also makes him a saving figure of exclusive importance.
in our increasingly disconcerting current affairs. [...]".
