Chawan tea ceremony tea bowl - Kato Sho ( 1927-2001 ) - Japan - Shōwa period (1926-1989)

This tea bowl is by Japanese potter Katou Sho( 1927-2001 ). The contrasting colors give it a sense of elegance. The rust-colored accents give a sense of Japanese wabi-sabi. Kato's works are made using the techniques of string making, board making (tatara), and hand twisting, and he creates works that emphasize expression that makes use of the original "eartheniness" of the clay, which cannot be seen with the potter's wheel. As a result, you can feel the warmth of the clay from his works. Size Height 8.5cm, Body diameter 11.5cm, Base diameter 6.5cm, Weight 460g
