Superb set of the four volumes of "The History of Napoleon" by M. de Norvins offering an in-depth analysis of his military and political career.
Complete, this seventh edition is enriched with 56 vignettes, portraits, maps and battle plans, illustrated by renowned artists such as Raffet, Gros and Horace Vernet, offering a captivating visual representation of significant events of the Napoleonic era.
Blue Half-Calf, marbled brown cardboard, fabric corners, smooth spines adorned with romantic golden scrollwork and cold motifs, yellow edges.
Frontispiece under serpents in each volume, contains numerous engravings out of text and many maps of which 6 are fold-out.

Jacques Marquet de Montbreton, Baron of Norvins, born on June 18, 1769, in Paris and died on July 30, 1854, in Pau, was a French politician and writer.
His work on Napoleon, published in 1827, is a significant testimony of the Restoration era, reflecting a favorable and sometimes excessively laudatory viewpoint towards the Emperor.
If it is of great interest in understanding the Napoleonic myth and its influence on collective memory, it should not be read as an objective analysis of the historical figure of Napoleon, but rather as a product of its time, a testimony of how Napoleon was perceived at a given moment in the history of France.
Very nice condition, some foxing.
