In this volume, the following are contained. The eight books of medicine by Aulus Cornelius Celsus. Venice, in the houses of Aldus, and Andrea Asulanus, his father-in-law, 1528 - March (at the end).
First Aldine edition of the oldest medical document after the writings of Hippocrates.
It remains the greatest medical treatise of ancient Rome and the first history of Western medicine.
This edition, curated by Giovanni Battista Egnazio, whose name appears in the preface, also includes a poem about medicine and the natural history of Quintus Sammonicus Serenus.
In-8°, 8 non-numbered cc. including the title page, 164 numbered pages (pagination errors on pages 82, 145, 147, and 150).
Still aldina on the first and last card, text in Latin, numerous spaces with guiding letters for the initials, handwritten notes and underlinings in ink, preface by Giovanni Battista Egnazio, index, and finally a poem by Quinto Sammonico Sereno.
Complete.
Genuine copy in more than good condition.
Read stains at the margins of some internal pages, binding well secured.
