This pallasite was initially called Habaswein, a town neighbouring the first fragments found. Finally, the meteorite was officially named Sericho, the area of Kenya where the impact took place and where it was found in 2016.
Pallasites are very rare meteorites in which olives of a metallic matrix are mixed and only represent 1.7% of known meteorites.
These come from the mantle of large asteroids.
This piece is treated with liquid resin to prevent oxidation.
