Original edition of these memoirs of Count Albert Beugnot, a constitutionalist during the revolution, advisor to Lucien Bonaparte in Westphalia, and minister during the Restoration.
Beugnot discusses his relationships with the famous Countess of La Motte; he then recounts his administration of the Grand Duchy of Berg on behalf of the first son of Hortense and Louis Bonaparte and he emphasizes several times the natural interest that Napoleon had in this child.
Complete in two volumes.
Half-red percaline (Bradel), smooth spine adorned, title pieces pasted on, year of publication at the bottom. - Friction on the pieces (solid volumes). Interiors very fresh, without browning. Very beautiful copy, untrimmed.
