Collationné et complet. Exemplaire enrichi d'un envoi signé de l'illustratrice : "To Helen" accompagné d'un petit dessin (femme nue) sur le faux-titre. Édition limitée, 1 250 exemplaires, celui-ci non-numéroté. Comme une grande partie de l'œuvre de Louÿs, ce recueil de nouvelles est « un gracieux mélange de licence et d'érudition » et un sujet toujours prisé des illustrateurs de livres (Harvey & Heseltine, 426) Cette édition présente un frontispice et 27 planches de l'artiste américaine Clara Tice, figure emblématique du féminisme, « connue pour ses dessins au trait élégants de nus féminins, de papillons et de chiens », ainsi que pour ses contributions à Vanity Fair et à des magazines underground comme Rouge (Barnet, All-Night Party, xvii). « Ses images de femmes, gracieusement épurées et souvent osées, exaltent Aubrey Beardsley » (New York Times). A charming illustrated English edition of this collection of erotic short stories by Pierre Louÿs, originally published in French in 1925, featuring a color frontispiece enhanced with gold and 27 color plates by Clara Tice (some enhanced with gold or silver). Collated and complete.

Copy enriched with a signed dedication from the illustrator: "To Helen" accompanied by a small drawing (naked woman) on the half-title.

Limited edition, 1,250 copies, this one unnumbered.

Like much of Louÿs's work, this collection of short stories is "a graceful blend of license and erudition" and a subject always popular with book illustrators (Harvey & Heseltine, 426)

This edition features a frontispiece and 27 plates by American artist Clara Tice, an iconic feminist figure, "known for her elegant line drawings of female nudes, butterflies, and dogs," as well as for her contributions to Vanity Fair and underground magazines like Rouge (Barnet, All-Night Party, xvii).
