Donald Lipski was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1947 and lives and works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his BA from the University of Wisconsin and his MFA in 1973 from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Solo exhibitions include the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; The Brooklyn Museum, New York; P.S. 1, Long Island City, New York; Capp Street Project, San Francisco, California; The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; Miami Art Museum, Miami, Florida; American Academy, Rome, Italy; and the Bawag Foundation, Vienna, Austria. Lipski's group exhibitions include the Whitney Biennial, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and the Hudson Museum, Yonkers, New York. Roland Garros is the traditional home of the annual Internationaux de France, the tennis tournament better known around the world as the French Open. This is one of the official posters designed and created each year for the tennis tournament at Roland Garros.
