Lucien de Roeck - Marci Bruxelles - Lucien de Roeck - Ostend Dover (Belgium) - 1930s
In 1935, 20-year-old Lucien De Roeck, then a student at Ter Kameren in Brussels, was given a commission after winning a design competition. He was asked to design a poster to promote the Ostend - Dover connection. He was inspired by the poster for the Normandy and Atlantic connection, designed by French graphic designer Cassandre. The monumental '3' is centrally placed in the image and in this way draws attention to the core of the advertising message: the short duration of the crossing. Moreover, the number links the separate parts of the headline, just as the boat itself connects the continent with England.
This beautiful poster on nice matte paper is a reissue.
The poster will be professionally packaged and shipped with track and trace.
