LEGRAS (1839-1916) - Vase - Important Large Vase with finely acid-etched cameo decoration of a pretty lake landscape - Signed - Mouth blown glass
No. 94135636

Circa 1900. Legras & Cie - Montjoye crystal factory in St Denis. France
Magnificent large "Lamartine" vase in blown glass with a widened base with a fully rotating decoration of a rich lake decoration representing two majestic large trees with a pretty flight of birds passing over a farm. This magnificent country decoration is finely engraved in acid cameo in successive multi-layer layers in relief worked with remarkable fine and precise chiseling in a beautiful thick glass with an opaque bottom with pretty shades of twilight colors which blend in a beautiful pretty harmony of colors.
Remarkable work of execution of the work released with acid in relief with subtle pretty nuances of twilight colors by this famous master glassmaker, who on this proof has nothing to envy the other great names of glassmaking of the beginning of the 20th century like Émile Gallé or Daum Nancy.
Beautiful Legras cameo signature
in the decor.
Very rare height of 36cm with a very nice volume of a circumference of 42cm at the most rounded part of the base
LEGRAS... The great master of the forest!
François-Théodore Legras - the Emperor of Saint-Denis as he was nicknamed - probably remained a little boy from the Vosges all his life, the son of a lumberjack, a child
a lumberjack himself before being trained in glassmaking, and eternally passionate about nature and the forest...
On these vases, particularly around 1900-1910 (under the progressive aegis of his nephew Charles), the forest nature will explode with beauty on the magnificent series Trees with lake landscapes surrounded by lakes and sometimes snow-capped mountains.
Rare “Lamartine” form proof, perfectly referenced and illustrated in the Legras Verrier catalogue raisonné.
In very good condition for its great age
(Vase over 120 years old)! With very fresh enamel and very bright colors.
Nice trace of the pontil of the blower's cane cut with pliers under the base, a sign of ancient, high-quality know-how.
Very secure professional shipping guaranteed with tailor-made packaging and protection with tracking and insurance
(Lighted display base not included)
