Germaine Cousin (c. 1579-1601) is a French Roman Catholic saint.
Cousin was born in Pibrac into a poor farming family.
Few facts are known about her life: she is said to have been born deformed and in poor health, her mother is said to have died shortly after her birth and she is said to have been badly treated by her stepmother.
She stood out among her contemporaries for her great piety and all kinds of wonderful stories circulated about her.
After her death at a young age, she was buried in the church of Pibrac.
Stories soon circulated of people being healed after praying at her grave.
It was also found that her unembalmed body did not decompose.
In 1700, a lawsuit was started in vain to have her beatified.
In 1854 she was beatified by Pope Pius IX and in 1867 she was canonized.
A basilica was built for her in Pibrac and it contains a shrine with her body.
Her name day in the Roman Catholic Church is June 15.
