Berlin, Chez George Jacques Decker, 1775. 3 volumes in-12 (17,5 x 10 cm), maroquin vert Empire (reliure de l'époque), dos lisses ornés avec fleurons spéciaux dorés, répétés, roulette dorée en encadrement sur les plats, dentelle dorée intérieure, tranches dorées, [2]-x-[8]-448-[2] ; [14]-453-[3] ; [14]-448-[4] pages (complet). Petites taches sur les plats, quelques rousseurs. Bon état. Première édition de la traduction française, par Guillaume de Moulines (1728-1802) ; elle est ornée d’un portrait-frontispice, et d’une vignette de titre au premier tome, tous deux gravés sur cuivre par l’artiste berlinois Krüger. Ammien Marcellin (circa 330-circa 395), est l'un des plus importants historiens de l'Antiquité tardive avec Procope de Césarée. Quoique d'origine grecque, il a écrit en latin et a été le dernier grand historien de l'Antiquité à utiliser cette langue. Belle reliure attribuable à Derôme le jeune.

3 volumes in-12 (17.5 x 10 cm), Empire green morocco (contemporary binding), smooth spines decorated with special gilded fleurons, repeated, gilded roulette in frame on the covers, gilded lace inside, gilded edges, [2]-x-[8]-448-[2]; [14]-453-[3]; [14]-448-[4] pages (complete). Small stains on the covers, some foxing. Good condition.

First edition of the French translation, by Guillaume de Moulines (1728-1802); it is decorated with a frontispiece portrait and a title vignette in the first volume, both engraved on copper by the Berlin artist Krüger.

Ammianus Marcellinus (circa 330-circa 395), is one of the most important historians of late antiquity along with Procopius of Caesarea. Although of Greek origin, he wrote in Latin and was the last great historian of antiquity to use this language.
