These statues are solid cast and weigh 2.700 kg and 0.700 kg respectively. They are 33 cm and 21 cm long.
François Pompon (1855-1933) was for many years one of the most sought-after assistants in Paris, carving marble blocks for Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel. After 1905, Pompon abandoned the human figure and concentrated on animals. 'Ours Blanc' was exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in 1922. The sculpture is now in the Musée d'Orsay. See last photo.
