Simca - 1000 Coupé Bertone - 1966
Simca 1000 Coupé, approximately 10,000 units were produced between 1962 and 1967, of which only a few remain today.
It was designed by the very young Giorgetto Giugiaro, who at the time worked at the Bertone body shop, and the rough bodies were produced in the Grugliasco factory; then the bodies were sent by rail to the Simca factory in Poissy where they were completed.
The Coupé made its debut at the 1962 Geneva Motor Show: it was based on the “four-door” structure, even the engine was the same 315 “Poissy” type, but the braking system had four disc brakes.
This example is one of the last produced and it is a car specifically intended for the Italian market: in addition to the direction indicators on the front fenders, it has a different interior with the dashboard covered in fake wood, the Five Stars sports steering wheel with wooden rim, the Veglia Borletti instruments with writing in Italian, the fully padded rear seat.
As shown in the original document, this 1000 Coupé was registered in the province of Treviso on 17 August 1966; colour “Vert Velasquez”, beige vinyl interior, chassis SB161764.
Remained in the Treviso area until a few months ago, this small sports car is today in very good condition with only two owners.
The car is sound, free of corrosion, complete and original and received a light restoration in the early nineties, when it was repainted in the original color; it was a well-done job but the paint now shows some imperfections and signs of aging; the original chrome bumpers show some rust spots on the surface.
The interior is in very good condition.
Mechanically the car is in excellent working order: the engine runs regularly, does not heat up, does not smoke and was equipped from new with a Reca double-exit sports muffler. I also recently replaced the fuel pump and the hydraulic clutch control.
On the road it goes very well.
In 1994 it was approved by ASI with a silver plate.
The car is currently deregistered from the Public Registry, but all the documentation necessary for re-registration is available.
It is recommended to check the possible registration in your destination country.
The car can be viewed and picked up in Giaveno (Turin), by appointment with Catawiki
