A single illuminated manuscript folio page from a 16th Century Qur'an from the Ottoman. The folio contains the final verses v.29-36 of Chapter 40, Ghafir (The Forgiver), which instructs Pharaoh to learn from history, learn form the fate of Noah, from Ad, Thumud and those after them. God will never be wrong, but Pharaoh response is to ignore God. There are two decorative Juz marking the 30th and 35th verses respectively, together with and overflow device against the 32nd verse reading 'with evidence'.

The script is evenly spaced naskhi scripture in a good hand, with the verses marked by simple gold aya containing a blue centre dot and five radial arms of equal spacing. A thick gold frame surrounds the whole, with a finer blue outer frame line completing the framing. There are a small number of devotional markings in red within the script.

The large form folio is in very good condition for its age.
