Boxed gilt sterling silver egg-shaped salt and pepper shakers - Hilliard & Thomason (1894) - Salt and pepper shakers (2) - .925 silver, Vermeil
A pair of unusual antique gilt sterling silver salt and pepper shakers dating to the Victorian period. Fashioned in the form of eggs, these ovoid shakers have pull-off lids and are raised on three ball feet; the interiors are richly gold-plated to protect the shakers from salt corrosion.
The set is housed in its original fitted presentation case made of red Morocco leather and embossed with a gold border to the bevelled hinged lid. The interior of the box is lined with red velvet and silk.
Very interesting condiment set and a rare find.
