Dulieu, Jean - 1 original pen drawing - Paulus de Boskabouter - Pieter in spagaat (jaren 1970)
Jan van Oort (1921 - 2006) designed the comic strip character Paulus the Woodgnome during the Second World War, whose adventures were published in Het Vrije Volk from 1946 onwards. Van Oort called himself "Jean Dulieu" (French translation of "Jan van Oort")
In addition to the 8,000 newspaper publications, Paulus appeared in color in a large number of magazines and children's books (released in many countries in translation). The watercolors that Dulieu made for this are each small works of art.
Dulieu was an all-rounder, a versatile and virtuoso artist whose skill and talent kept pace with his pursuit of perfection. Jean Dulieu received many awards for his work and is considered one of the "Big Three": Marten Toonder, Hans G. Kresse and Jean Dulieu. Jan van Oort (1921 - 2006) designed the comic strip character Paulus the Forest Gnome during the Second World War, whose adventures were published in Het Vrije Volk from 1946 onwards. Van Oort called himself "Jean Dulieu" (French translation of "Jan van Oort")
Eventually, between 1946 and 1984, with intervals, some 8,000 daily comics would be made. In addition to those newspaper publications, Paulus appeared in color in a large number of magazines and children's books (published in translation in many countries). Jean Dulieu received many awards for his work and is considered one of the "Big Three": Marten Toonder, Hans G. Kresse and Jean Dulieu.
This lot contains a beautiful, very finely executed pen drawing by Pieter for one of the planned book publications. Just look at the virtuosity in the sketch and the very refined interplay of lines. Dulieu was unique with such a refined interplay of lines. Done with a very fine and virtuosic pen. The miniatures, the composition....., only the greatest can do this.
The drawing will be packaged to maximum protection and sent to the new owner by registered mail.
