Portico clock, A big Louis XVI style French portico mantel clock - Coeur, Paris - - Carrara marble - 1870-1890 - Commode clock

A big (H: 43,5 cm) Louis XVI style French portico clock, made of very nice white (Carrara) polished marble decorated with rich garniture of gilt bronze mounts. Preserved in excellent condition!

Case crafted in beautiful white Carrara marble, accentuated by exquisitely detailed gilt decoration of rich gilt bronze mounts. The gilt drum case is supported on two free standing rectangular columns with gilt bronze appliqués surmounted by classical vase-shaped finials and two gilt bronze round columns on front. Square gilt bronze support with flowers, bow and quiver with arrows above the movement. Below the movement neoclassical mount. Columns are resting on a rectangular base with an extended front decorated with gilt appliqué and rosettes, edges with strings of pearls, all standing on six round legs. Due to materials used and size, the clock is very heavy.

Dimensions: height - 43,5 cm, width – 24,6 cm, depth – 10,1 cm.

French, 8 day power reserve, two train Parisian movement of a good technical quality stamped with 'COEUR / PARIS' mark in the circle, low serial number: 2008, pendulum parameters: 6-9 and number 12. The serial number 2008 is repeated on the pendulum and the dial's frame, what means all parts come from this clock. The clock comes with a winding key.

White enameled dial with black Arabic numerals for hours and dots for minutes (each five). Circle of garlands of flowers in the center. Gilt brass openwork hands. Gilt bronze frame around the dial, finely chiseled. Pendulum with an especially large beautiful gilt bronze sunburst lens with Medusa mask in the center.

Conditions report: clock preserved in excellent condition for the age. Case in very good condition, small chips to the lower edge of the marble base, on the right side; wear to the gilding in places, gilt bronzes and case very clean.
