一后一兆 Ichigo Iccho (1898-1991) Born in Ishikawa Prefecture, he is regarded as a master of Wajima-nuri and a maki-e artist of the highest order. His background is not well known, and few of his works are available on the market, so his tea ceremony utensils are still sold at high prices. In particular, his jujube (jujube-shaped tea caddies) are highly valued. He was trained in the world of maki-e and has been selected for many exhibitions, including the Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition). He is regarded as one of the best maki-e artists in Japan, with his unique sense of color, boldness and compositional ability not seen in other maki-e artists. He has left many excellent works, especially of jujube (Chinese tea caddies), and is highly regarded as a certified lacquerer with a certificate from the head of the Senke school of tea ceremony. 一后一兆 Ichigo Iccho (1898-1991) Wajima lacquerware Black Lacquered Raden inlay Mother-of-pearl 貴福寿 Gold inside Tea Caddy Natsume with Box Dimensions: 3.1" x 2.3" / 7.9cm x 5.9cm Technique: Makie Lacquer, Raden inlay Mother-of-pearl Material: Wood Weight: 160g including Box Condition Antique items have originally crease, stain, damage, and more.
